Rachelle Derouin is a documentary wedding photographer who lives on the foggy coast of San Francisco and has photographed weddings full time since 2012. Her approach is observational, people-centered, and rooted in deep curiosity; she shows up without preconceptions of what a wedding should look like and instead documents the experience and feeling of the day. She works with a mix of digital and 35mm film, each with its own purpose and magic, covering weddings throughout Northern California and occasionally other parts of the world, plus documentary family sessions through the year. A self-described big-hearted queer human, she cares deeply about creating an affirming and inclusive space for the people she photographs.

Her presence on our wedding day was warm and calming, and the photographs we received are beyond our wildest dreams. Her process left us with the freedom to enjoy our wedding fully, and reliving the experience through her pictures has been a true gift.

Frequently asked questions

Hiring the right wedding photographer starts with knowing how to compare style, fit, availability, portfolio depth, and the way each photographer works on the day.

How do I find a wedding photographer near me?+

Start with the photographer directory, then filter by service, event type, country, style, and specialty. Open profiles to compare portfolios, languages, travel coverage, and contact details.

What wedding photography style should I choose?+

Documentary and candid are best for unscripted storytelling, editorial is more directed and polished, fine-art and light-and-airy lean romantic, and cinematic, moody, flash, film photography, or black-and-white styles bring stronger atmosphere.

What should I ask before booking?+

Ask who will photograph the wedding, whether they have worked with your venue or ceremony type, how they direct portraits, and when final galleries are delivered.

When should couples book their photographer?+

For peak wedding seasons, many couples book 9 to 15 months ahead. Elopements and weekday weddings can often be booked sooner, but popular destination and luxury teams may fill dates earlier.

Can photographers add their profile?+

Yes. Photographers can apply from the join page for a profile listing with long-term visibility as the directory expands into city, venue, and comparison pages.
